This can probably go without saying, but I'll type it anyway: this post contains spoilers for The Force Awakens. If you haven't yet seen the movie, you'll probably want to come back to this point at some point in the future.

Lightsaber Dream Sequence

This scene starts when Rey discovery an old, ornate box and opens it to discover Luke's lightsaber. When she touches it a sequence of images rush through her. The scene ends with Rey falling backwards trying to get away from the memories. There are some interesting voices that you can hear during the images.

One of the scenes in the sequence shows Rey being left on Jakku, but the big question is: who was Rey's parent or guardian at the time? Who dropped Rey off on Jakku?

Kylo Ren

Kylo Ren is a pretty good villan. The big question is will he stay this way, or can he be turned away from the Dark Side? Will he be able to do what his uncle could not?

When asked how you bring a new villan into the Star Wars universe, J.J. Abrams replied, “We knew we needed to do something f—king bold. The only reason why Kylo Ren has any hope of being a worthy successor is because we lose one of the most beloved characters.”

More details about Kylo Ren and finishing the story of Han Solo from Abrams and the two main co-writers Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt.

Suplimental Information

The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary is an excellent companion to the movie. It adds so much secondary information and additional story points as highlighted here:

  • Rey has some experience flying. Her speeder is capable of low-altitude flying. She also states that, "I've flown some ships but I've never left the planet".
  • The First Order has access to Kyber Crystals. Highly valuable and sought after by First Order commanders. Kylo Ren uses a cracked one in his lightsaber, which explains why the blade isn't pure.
  • Poe and Finn steal a TIE/sf, which is a two-seater and has light-speed capabilities, unlike regular TIE, so they could have left Jakku pretty easily.

Final Screenplay Released

The final screenplay was released by Disney to the different award shows for consideration. This revealed lots of details about the existing plot points and some hints at some deleted scenes. This gives some much needed background about the final scene between Luke and Rey.

Deleted Scenes

This link really needs no introduction. Slashfilm highlights 20 scenes that didn't make the cut for the final film.
